Visitor Center Garden Greeter
Love to talk with people?  Be a Garden Greeter.  Primary responsibilities of the job  include greeting visitors, answering visitor questions, and helping visitors locate things in the Garden.   Also, you will be asked to attend a "briefing" of how this all works.  Saturday & Sunday hours - 12:00n to 4:00p

Garden Docent
Share your love of gardening and plants.  Be a Garden Docent.  A docent leads small groups of visitors through the Garden and provides interpretation about the design of the gardens, as well as  providing information about the  sculptures, trees, and artifacts found throughout the Garden.  A "briefing" will be scheduled to educate you on all locations in the garden.

Children's Discovery Cart
Stroll through the Garden with our Discovery Cart, engaging visitors in interactive hands-on discovery and exploration. The primary responsibility is to share one's enthusiasm of plants and animals with families in the Garden.

Education Administrative Assistant
Help our environmental  educators keep their classrooms running smoothly by stocking supplies and preparing necessary materials in advance of classes.

Public Speakers Bureau
Share your love and knowledge  of nature, plants, and the Garden by giving informational talks.  Educate the community about the TBG collections, as well as what the Garden  has to offer, and how gardens enrich our lives.

Crosby Festival of the Arts
Last year we used over 150 volunteers for the Festival.  It could not happen with out  volunteers!   The primary responsibility is to help keep the Festival running smoothly.

Skilled Labor Assistants
Handy with your hands and tools?  Why not help keep the Garden together with your skills?  Working under the direct supervision of TBG staff, responsibilities include assisting with general maintenance and upkeep of Garden facilities including buildings, garden structures and hardscape.

Administrative Support
Want to help the Garden but don't like to work outside?  Then maybe helping the business side of the Garden is the thing for you.  Under supervision of the Office Manager, routine office tasks such as compiling mail projects, reception work, and other light office duties help the Garden to achieve its mission of Enriching Lives Through Gardens, the Arts, and Nature.

Wedding and Special Event Host
Greets wedding guests as well as other visitors who come to the park on that day or for special events.  Answers questions and directs guests to the appropriate site and parking.  Primary responsibility is to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic coming into the Garden and help guests find their way.

Horticultural Support for Gardens & Greenhouse
Under staff supervision, performs routine gardening maintenance, and other related duties as assigned.  Assists in the preparation of planting areas, watering, weeding, dead-heading, edging, mulching, pruning and raking.  Knowledge of horticulture helpful.  Task involves physical labor including bending, kneeling, lifting as well as working in various weather conditions such as summer heat, rain, etc.

General Maintenance & Carpentry
Working under the direct supervision of TBG staff, assists with general maintenance and upkeep of Garden facilities including buildings, garden structures and hardscape.  Some duties include home repairs and remodeling, drywall, electrical, plumbing, surface preparation and painting, woodworking and carpentry, machine repair/maintenance, etc.

Events Manager Support
Participate in the smooth execution of programs and events such as the annual Crosby Award Luncheon, Crosby Festival of the Arts, Jazz in the Garden, workshops, special tours, and others.  Facilitates set-up, clean-up, greeting guests, checking attendance rosters, distributing tickets and other materials, facilitating workshop activities, etc.  Assist with office support such as assembling publicity materials, photocopying, processing mailings, and if appropriate, writing and designing publicity materials and conducting publicity-related research.

Internships
Students with backgrounds in plant science, environmental education, art, event management and other areas can find meaningful ways to participate in Garden operations and activities while gaining valuable knowledge and resume-building experience.  Most opportunities are seasonal (April-October) but some special projects do occur throughout the year.  Internships are available in the following areas - Horticulture, Children's Education, Special Events

Toledo Grows Assistant
Do you like working with your hands.  If so this is the volunteer opportunity for you.  Over 80 urban vegetable gardens have been installed in the Toledo area.  These gardens are tended by an army of volunteers of all ages. In addition, skilled carpenters, plumbers and electricians are needed for this program.
 
Volunteers are needed in January & February for the Seed Sort and Swap.
